Humanities with Maria Pelayo
Humanities this year, has definitely molded me into the person I am today. My teacher and class mates have had an effect on me. We've done so many projects that have opened my perspective even more. Below you can see a few of my pieces I've done.
Mini Autobiography - In this project, we did a combination of Humanities & Spanish. This is the Humanities proportion. We created a Mini autobiography. This included , a recipe that would create us , our birthing story, and a revolutionary moment. In this project we focused a ton on magical realism. We read the book Like Water For Chocolate while the project because it explained Magical realism to the "T".
Like Water For Chocolate - In this piece, we read the book Like Water for Chocolate by Laura E. We read this to help our understanding of Magical Realism. After reading the book, we did an analysis to the book. I did an Analysis on the damaging truth of the De La Garza Family.
Identity Poem - The identity poem was our first writing piece we did in 10th grade. We had to explain what we think our identity was.
Lost Generation - Often, my generation is referred to as the lost generation. We are looked down as the generation that will ruin it all. We are faced with assumptions that all we want to do is party and associate ourselves with drugs. In this project we had to show both sides to this. We had to show the perspective of what adults see us as and what we see ourselves as. We then had to put it into a poem, 1 poem. The poem would read one way negatively and positively back up. Each student made one and put it up on youtube.
Industrial Revolution - In this project, I had to write a piece of the perspective of a person in the industrial revolution. I had a hard time so instead i wrote from the perspective of land. I was Albania in the time of the Revolution and I wrote about the hard times I had.
Romantic Poem - For this, we learned about the Romanticism Period. We studied loads of poems, and had to write our own.
Socratic Dialogue - The Socratic Dialogue was one of my favorite pieces. We studied Socrates and his way of changing peoples opinions through a series of questions. We then had to create dialogue with us portraying Socrates talking to someone else.
Persuasive Essay - We had to write a persuasive essay on anything that went along the lines of our two themes in a project for chemistry. I chose to write one on the destructiveness of the world "progressing"
R.A.F.T - We were given a reading assignment to read a book over thanksgiving break then had to explain it in a creative way. You could create a poem, song, painting, or anything. I decided to write a "Impression, Past, Present, & Future" of each character. The book that i read was The Secret Life of Bees
Stereogram - For this project, we had to take a picture of patterns that put if through a generator to create a stereo gram. It creates a photo, but when you look at it for a very long time you can see a hidden object.
